"Le" Léviathan, c'est un monstre biblique, que Thomas Hobbes a comparé à l'Etat.
En plus d'un siècle, il a fait beaucoup de petits... et le rythme s'accélère.
Aujourd'hui, il est plus prolifique que jamais, sa fécondité est exponentielle.
"Un" léviathan, c'est un membre de cette grande famille.
Dans un des livres fondateurs de la science politique, en 1651, Thomas Hobbes a comparé l'Etat à Léviathan, monstre biblique dont parle le livre de Job, en précisant "qu'il n'est de puissance sur terre qu'on puisse lui comparer". Aujourd'hui, Léviathan est empêtré : dans son propre corps, mais aussi dans son environnement : technologique, social ou sociétal, international...
De plus, Léviathan a fait des petits : toutes sortes d'institutions - publiques, privées ou autres. Certaines, conçues en d'autres temps, n'ont pas toujours su s'adapter à un monde en mouvement, ou n'en respectent pas la logique ; d'autres, sans foi ni loi, n'en resepctent pas les règles du jeu...
